When they say antidepressants have a stimulant

I know that some of them have mild stimulants, just to give U that extra boost. Many of them R taken in the morning so it should not affect your sleep. No they do not make U feel drunk, or high, unless it is taken too often and too many. Taken as prescribed, then hopefully it will help U with just that Lil boost, that is what your looking for?

That means they do not make you sleepy. I take Wellbutrin 300 mg and it gives me lots of energy, but I do not get high or feel drunk at all. It also takes the depression away.

You could get a printout of the possible side effects from your pharmacist. That will give you some idea of what to look for.

All anti-depressants have a stimulant (very small amount) & a downer. Your body works on the opposite theory of ur brain.

Example:
You give ur child Ritalin (an upper) to control ur child is hyper activity disorder.
I gave my daughter a 6 oz. glass of coca cola when she could not sleep, even though, if I gave it to her during the day she would get mean & hyper.

It does not make u high, & if i does, u need to consult ur doctor. It is only supposed to even u out, & help u be calm.

No, u do not feel a high like with alcohol or such. It is just that some antidepressants have a stimulant that makes u more active or maybe more talkative. The person themselves may not even notice but people who know them well may notice a change of sorts.. Some have a dual action.. Stimulant & a depressant..So all depends of which family of antidepressants u r on..Tricyclics, MAOIs or the newer ones like Prozac, Paxil, etc.. Check with ur doctor on which is best for you..

It means it has a quality that makes you feel slightly more awake, as opposed to a sedative quality, that tends to put you to sleep.

None of the modern psych. meds make people feel high.
