What is it like to take antidepressants

I take Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, & Lexapro (10 mg) in the evening, for depression & anxiety. I've been taking that for over two years, & it is working very well for me.

The Wellbutrin SR seems to help me to be more alert & active - & wanting to do things - while the Lexapro makes me more mellow, & it helps me sleep better, too. They r relatively low doses of each medication, which keeps side effects at a minimum. I really can not tell I am taking any medication at all.

For me it is took the edge off of things. I can deal with my children better and my house is cleaner, which that alone made me feel better. I still have down times but they are not as bad as they use to be.

I have been on antidepressants now for about 6 years.

They make a huge difference in my life. I am able to handle anxiety & stress a lot easier then without. It also helps me sleep, without it I would never have a full nights worth of shut eye. I would get maybe three hrs of sleep a night. I also have IBS with diarrhea & that helps with that a lot too.

I tried getting off it with the help of my doctor but, four months after being clean all my problems came back. I became sick with depression, anxiety & stress.on top of my stomach problems I lost about 12 pounds in a month. I could not sleep, eat, concentrate & people at work were starting to become concerned. So now I am back on them & feel so much better. I can smile & handle things on a much better level.

When I first got on antidepressants I tried Paxil & that made my heart race extremely fast. Then I tried Zoloft & was on it for about a year when it started giving me sexual side effects (never in the mood). Then I got on Effexor XR (highest milligram) & have been on it since.

if u think that u need a little help by getting on an antidepressant then do not be afraid to ask for help from ur doctor.

oh by the way it is noticeable. I had a coworker mention to me how my attitude has completely turned around.

They have helped me to be able to think more clearly. My depression is not so severe. I do not cry as much. They help me to be able to cope better. For me the side effects are not so bad. If your depression is not going away, you probably could benefit from taking antidepressants. Make an appointment to see a psychiatrist.

it depens which one u take.. but the generall point of it is to make u less depressed.. which intern makes u happier.. but u have to be careful with the side efects.. not like the little ones like tiered.. those r normal i' talking major like even worse deppresion wanting to hurt ur slef or others. not being able to sit still.. & generally going crazy.. i had all three of those happen to me on 3 diffrent meds (i can not remeber the names) but if u feel like this u need to get off of them. i did not get off of the one that made me crazy in times.. so thats feeling is still there.. like i rock back & forth alot & move & play with my hands all the time i can not stand loud noises. so u just have to be careful with them

first week or two you suffer from side effects, such as upset stomach, headaches, jitters etc. it takes about 6 weeks before its fully functional. antideppressants doesnt make you happy. it just make things more ''manageable''. kind of difficult to explain.i guess just lessen the degree to which you are depressed,

It makes me mellow - like I do not care

After a week or so you realize that you are less sad and less stressed but other than that they really do not do anything strange to you. It can be very noticible depending on the severity of the depression. There can be side effects with some but there are many to try until you find the one for you. Wellbutrin does not cause weight gain and it has makes you more sexual rather than killing your sex drive.

i hated em' dry mouth, moody, crying spells for no reason they suck!!!!also kill your sex drive
